earth, wind & fire... oh, and water

I found a great local bar. Well... I had some help.
My favorite K.J. (Karaoke Jockey) Amanda just got a new gig at Element Lounge in Richmond.

What a fabulous place! Great decor, great bartenders (Doug and Frankie... You guys rock!), and a STOCKED bar. And I mean stocked, people.

It was Amanda's first nite there so it was a pretty small crowd... but it was a blast. By the end of the evening, everyone in the place was singing with each other, lots of duet combinations!

(James, Chris, Christopher, Katy and the rest of the GANG... you guys were so much fun! Hope we see you there again.)

I'm hoping our Harley Owners Group Chapter can have some functions at Element.
The biker philosophy is basically "Ride and Eat".
Oh and they don't seem to mind "adult beverages" either.

If you're ever in Richmond, Virginia check out Element Lounge...

he said, she said...

And just what the hell did he mean "I do love you, just not the way you love me"? What the fuck did that mean? She never wanted him to love her in any way other than His Way. She never asked anything of him really. She never asked him to leave... She's not sure she'd even want him to.

Did she want things the way they were? Yes!
Did she want time alone with him? You betcha!
Did she want him to want her??? Absolutely!
But did she want him... or anyone... 24/7? No. No way!

She never expected anything from him. How COULD she? But what did make her crazy was that he invited her into his life... into his lifestyle. Then he all but ignored her!
That Bites!

do you think that was the plan?

I was in Williamsburg yesterday with T. As we drove through town, we rode by a motel that I'd stayed at years ago.
Just in passing, I said "I've stayed there... their pool is shaped like a condom" She just stared at me. Well, as much as she could and still see where she was driving. "No kidding... it's shaped just like a condom. Like this..."

fwed...

This is my buddy FWED. When he's in his jogging get-up, I call him "Big Bird." It's for "Visibility" he says.
He loves jogging and you won't catch him eating any fat if he can help it. But he loves his candy, bubble gum, diet pepsi and 12 or so cups of coffee a day.

Go figure.

I'm listening to...

My life is brilliant.

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

Yeah, she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Flying high,
And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

-the words and his voice! For some reason, this song touches me. The video is pretty strange though... almost disturbing.

Current reading material...

I've just started reading:

FROM THE PUBLISHER
Now freelancing from south Florida, Dr. Kay Scarpetta returns to Richmond, Virginia, the city that turned its back on her five years ago. Investigating the death of a young girl, she must follow the twisting leads and track the strange details in order to make the dead speak-and to reveal the sad truth that may be more than even she can bear.

And I'm also reading this:

The Creative License: Giving Yourself Permission to Be the Artist You Truly Are

by Danny Gregory

Book Description: When Danny Gregory's life was turned upside down by tragedy, he learned to cope by teaching himself to draw. The result was a complete transformation of his life, his priorities, his career, and the way he saw the world. In handwritten chapters full of his lush watercolor illustrations, Danny now offers readers a program for reconnecting to their own creative energies, using drawing as an example. He gently instructs us in the art of allowing ourselves to fail, giving up the expectation of perfection and opening our eyes to the beauty around us. The result is the permission to express ourselves fully and take part in the creative process without fear. Artist or not, readers of all stripes will find inspiration in this unique and beautiful book.
