In Japanese, a pine tree is "matsu." The verb for "waiting" is also "matsu."
The title Fool, Foolish, Foolhardy got me thinking. I'm going to play around with your haiku in Japanese and see if I can get variations of the word "matsu" to echo like the title.
Maybe nothing will come of it, but then again ...
