"... but I'm just not Getting it!"

I believe that learning massage is akin to something of a spiritual journey. And my best advice is "Relax and Let it Happen".

This is especially true when learning the aspects of Myofascial Release. MFR is a SLOW and sometimes seemingly boring process to allow the body to 'unwind' fascially. Sometimes it takes a lot of concentration and patience to actually FEEL the process. Most of the time, it's best to just Trust yourself and your intentions and let the process work.

Believe me, I had a hard time trusting myself and allowing things to just work... in the beginning. And there are times still when I get frustrated and impatient. But I have to 'step back' and take a breath. I think to myself, what's the problem, Peg? Is the body not responding on Your schedule? They seldom do, you know. Just do what you know to do, do the work and Trust that the body will do ITS job.

Bodies want to be well. We just nudge them along a bit.
Homeostasis is a state of balance in the body and it's where the body wants to be.

I say over and over, intention means so much... intention is Everything. Norman Vincent Peale called it The Power of Positive Thinking.
With intention, all the forces of the universe can align to make even the most impossible, possible.

Our intention, as massage therapists, is for the Highest Good for our clients.

With that intent always present in our minds... HOW can we go wrong?
Relax... let it happen.

In regards to Myofascial Release and other techniques that affect the connective tissue of our bodies, Gil Hedley has a wonderful video about, what he calls, "The Fuzz".

If you want some great insight into your our bodies stiffness, aches and pains, please watch it:

OH.... MY......

This is the most sensual scent I've ever experienced!!
Or should I say... SCENTUAL? ba dum bump!
Bought some last night at a new store in my village. I really bought it for myself. I'd massage a client with it if requested but it's very powerful and I will probably cut it with a carrier oil but OH YUM.
It may even be an aphrodisiac (at least it is for ME). And it fits my mood of late. I've got something new on my horizon and he's Oh So very sexy... mmmmm.

MTs just don't need more of this!

As Certified/Licensed/Professional Massage Therapists, we believe that the producers and talent associated with the television talk show titled "The View" have severely and irresponsibly slandered our state certified/licensed profession in the eyes of a national television audience.

PLEASE consider signing the Petition!

Thank you!

  3. I have a career (finally) that I love ... Massage.
  4. I have lots of massage clients (lots for a part time job) and I'm thrilled.

  7. I have 3 more years at the 'day job', I can retire at 50!
  8. I start as Teaching Assistant at the massage school in September... I love teaching, I'm so excited.
  9. I start as the TEACHER at the massage school in about a year, I'm excited (and a little scared).
  10. I still love teaching folks to ride motorcycles, but it takes A LOT out of me.
  11. I feel I've let my Fwed down.

"No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”

Need to live by that one!

Hallelujah! Eureka! and Hot Damn!

Got my "official" report from NCBTMB (and sometimes Y) and Thomson Prometric of my performance on the National Certification Exam. They break it down between the 6 general knowledge content areas:
1. General Knowledge of Body Systems
2. Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology
3. Pathology
4. Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Assessment
5. Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Application
6. Professional Standards, Ethics, Business and Legal Practices

I made "HIGH" in all 6 categories!!!!!
Yes, Yes, Yes!
Ouch, I think I just hurt my arm... patting myself on my back... hehe
I think I need a massage.

Well, one of my words has finally been approved by the editors on Urban Dictionary! No, I don't get to approve my own words.

has she lost ALL her marbles?

(and after re-reading these disjointed ramblings... I think maybe I have!)

TODAY, it's so very unreal. The TERROR at Virginia Tech yesterday still rocks my world!

Okay, at the risk of sounding very Woohoo, "Out There"...

I'm coming to some rather interesting (shall I say, weird?) realizations about myself of late.
I'm not even sure I can articulate them properly yet. There is one word resonating in my head.

And more specifically - Physical Oneness: feeling what is physically going on in another person's body in one's own body

It seems that I tend to take on some of a person's pain when I'm in contact with them. I've been presented with more and more evidence of this, but is it my imagination?

I keep asking that. I just don't know. When it comes to all the "metaphysical" stuff... I've always come up short. I just didn't FEEL it. So, is it wishful thinking? I don't think so, but I'm still openly skeptical.

It's so strange how life works, how things come to be. I have to wonder if (when?) I would have seen these things in myself if I had not taken this path. And that PATH! How life brought me here... and the people who led me here... it's all so amazing.

I know I've said it before, but I'll keep saying it. Coming to school... to all my new sisters/friends... it's the BEST thing that I have ever done for myself.

To help others is the ultimate goal... but I never dreamed how much it would help ME.

So... back to yesterday's events:
I have been out of sorts since Friday evening. Really, oddly "out of sorts",

"Not Right", "Funky".

I thought it was just because I massaged a client that evening who was having a real hard time of it (emotionally)... couldn't lie still, couldn't relax, very WIRED.

Yesterday I chatted with a good friend and she was describing feelings she had been having and that they were the same feelings she had just before Columbine...
It's all too weird for me... but there it is!

WHAT have I been feeling? I don't know... but I know that right now I'm feeling incredible feelings of hurt, bewilderment and GREAT relief.
The relief is due to the fact that OUR GIRL, Jackie is okay. Jackie is the daughter of very good friends and fellow club members. We (the so called Clique) all feel like we've helped to raise her and we were all so very proud when she was accepted at Virginia Tech. And she's OKAY. She called her parents yesterday morning and I got an email from her last night.

We can't wait to "wrap our arms" around her.

Updates... motorcycles and massage

Whew.... busy weekend. I taught a motorcycle class and it was pretty good. But most of the students had a real fear of MOVING, more than 2 mph that is. Geez. Did you know that motorcycles don't like going slooooow? Nope, they sure don't... they tend to fall over when they go slow. Gravity... it's the LAW! Ah well, all but two students passed and the two that didn't were greatly improved by the end of the weekend. I hope they come back and take the class again.

A while ago I was whining (yes... WHINING) and then I forgot to update you. My Spa Night on Thursday was wonderful. I think he removed every hair on my body... well, not the ones on my head. And then the massage! Ah, it was fabulous!

I had gotten some bad news earlier in the day and I was feelin' pretty damned bad. But the massage made me feel much better. He virtually massaged my cares away.
... the man is a virtuoso, a true savant.

Massage Slut!

I'm bummed out!
This Thursday should be my regular Spa Day but due to circumstances beyond anyone's control (so a bunch of punk kids have to graduate from highschool... so what?), it has to be postponed until next week. DAMN!
I've been thinking about it since... well... since the last time actually.

Have you ever found something you liked SO much that you wanted to do it everyday? Yet at the same time... you were afraid it would become blasé. So part of you pines away for that something and the other part of you is thrilled that the anticipation makes you virtually BUZZ with excitement. Ain't duality grand? Or... maybe it's schizophrenia!
